Q: What is anal stenosis and how can it be corrected. My 2 years old daughter is suffering from it? Is any surgical procedure required for this or can medicines help?
A:Anal stenosis is a birth defect wherein the anal opening is tight. This often leads to constipation in children. It is very important that a correct diagnosis is made by a competent pediatric surgeon to avoid an unnecessary operation. If anal stenosis is confirmed, and the child had intractable constipation, surgery is the only solution.
