Q: I am a 69 years old female diagnosed with a progressive hole in the centre of the pupil after the OCT test. What is OCT and how can my problem be treated?
A:OCT stands for Ocular Coherence Tomography. This is mainly used for examining the thickness of retina. In some diseases, retina in the back of the eye becomes thicker or thinner. You are suspected of retinal hole, which affects vision not pupil as you mentioned. The other test will be fluresceine angiography, which takes a series of photographs of the back of the eye with special fundus camera to tell more about the pathology.
