Q: Our baby's jaundice turned into kernicterus. He is now 8 months old and we are noticing that he is behind in his development. He still can't sit up by himself and he does not grasp things the way other babies his age do. Will he catch up or will he always be behind?

A:Kernicterus is a condition where due to very high level of jaundice it causes brain damage, which makes them developmentally slow. Some recovery may occur with stimulation and aggressive occupational therapy. Best is to get registered in a Development clinic.
