What exercises can be done after a femur shaft fracture?

Q: I have a femur shaft fracture in the right leg. What kind of exercises can I do? Can I walk properly?

A:Most of the time, a femur shaft fracture is treated with a nail. I don't know if you already had surgery or not. Certain exercises are beneficial and these include static quadriceps, ankle pumps, hip abduction exercises. If the fracture heals without significant malunion, then return to previous level of functioning could be expected.
