What does my doppler report indicate?

Q: I am a 28 years old woman and at 13 weeks of doppler of uterine arteries scan it was determined that high impendence flow in left uterine artery with evidence of diastolic notch. Right PI: 1.3 and Left PI: 1.7. What does it indicate? Please advise.

A:The findings suggest that the blood flow to the baby is compromising. If it continues like this, or get worse, then it may lead to Intra-uterine Growth Retardation (IUGR).At 19 weeks, get the ultrasound repeated, and triple test in the blood done.These finding sometimes occur in women with high blood pressure. So get your blood pressure checked.
