Q: I am a 72 years old man and had two consecutive prostate-specific antigen (PSA) tests within two months and the results were 7.59 and 8.00 respectively. The prostate is slightly enlarged and the urine flow test is normal. I have no problem in passing urine and have no earlier history of any urinary tract disease. Please advise.
A:High PSA indicates a risk of your prostate gland harbouring a focus of prostate cancer. At the readings given by you (PSA between 4 and 10 nm/ml) the risk is moderate 30 to 40%. You need to see a Urologist who would examine the need for prostate biopsy before taking any further action.
