Q: I have a 25 years old sister. She had a throat problem some time back. The doctor advised us to take FNAC thyroid test. The reported indicated that she had a thyroid nodule - consistent with follicular neoplasm. I don’t understand what this means. Could you please us what exactly her problem is and also the treatment for it?

A:Follicular neoplasia means tumour (one type) which may be simple or cancerous. The next step is to undergo thyroid scan followed by surgery. You should contact a surgeon at the earliest.
