Q: My son underwent heart surgery at the age of 9 months for coarctation and PDA. . He is fine and not taking any medicines. Do we have to take any special measures to minimize any risk that arises in future, specially heart problems?

A:Situs inversus with laevocardia is a normal variant and is known to be associated with certain heart defects for which the child has already undergone surgery. There is no increased predisposition to acquired heart diseases because of the situs. He needs to be taken care like a normal child.
