Q: My 21 years old wife had an abortion. Doctors asked for ToRCH (Toxoplasma, Rubella, Cytomegalovirus and Herpes) test, I did it in one hospital. Please tell why doctors advised for abortion after going through the reports.
A:An abortion can occur in 10% of all pregnancies and is generally due to an abnormal fetus, which cannot survive. It is nature's decision to eliminate an abnormal fetus. In the next pregnancy, before planning, should get blood and urine tests to find out the cause, like VDRL, TORCH, blood group and blood sugar, to see where the defect lies, as these can be treated. Please do remember that in almost 30-40%, no cause may be found, in which case there are precautions like rest, avoiding lifting weights, and sex during the pregnancy that can be taken to ensure a healthy baby.
