What are the uses of Acyclovir?

Q: I was recently looking for a painkiller for toothache when I discovered two prescriptions for Acyclovir in my partners travel kit. I researched the drug on the Internet and saw that it is an antiviral used in the treatment of herpes infections. I am concerned whether I have been unwillingly infected. What are the other uses for the medication? I don't like to think my partner of several years has been deceiving me, and would like to have my facts straight before I proceed with making any decisions.
