Q: I have a small pea sized growth outside anus for last 7 days. Initially it was painful but there is no pain now. Internal exam confirmed that it’s not piles. The doctor suggested it was a clot due to straining. I just want to know if I need surgery or will it go away its own?
A:It sounds like a thrombosed external varix. If it is not painful, it can be left alone and it will resolve. Surgery is not needed.
