Q: My grandmother, approximately 70 years old, has been diagnosed of carcinoma stomach (stage 4). She has a very poor appetite and is unable to pass urine; stomach pains because of accumulation of fluid in stomach. Fluid is being removed & IV drip is being given regularly. Chemotherapy has been suggested for her. I would like to know what are the best treatment options available in India / U.S.A.

A:I assume Stage IV means she has either secondaries in liver or peritoneum. If she is not able to eat she should have either a self expanding stent or a surgical gastro-jejunostomy followed by chemotherapy.
All this can be done in India.
