Should I stop feeding cerelac to my daughter?

Q: I have a 7 months old daughter. I started weaning off her when she was around 6 months old. I started giving her cerelac. I moved to London recently. I visited a doctor here and she asked me to stop cerelac as it contains high sugar. I am confused now because in India the doctor suggested me to give cerelac to my daughter. Could you please tell me what should I give my daughter instead of cerelac?

A:Yes, this is right that cerelac has more sugar and carbohydrates. It may be a good idea to start on home made cereals like suji, daliya, moong dal khichri and banana. You could start these cereals one by one. At 7 months you may give her 1 or 2 semi-solid diets and gradually increase, so that by one year she just has milk twice and rest all semisolids.
