Q: I am a 24 years old woman having hypothyroidism and I am taking Thyronorm 25 mcg daily. Now, I am 12 weeks pregnant and in my recent test reports my TSH level is 4.51 miu/ml, free T3 is 4.06pmol/l, free T4 is 14.73 pmol/l. Should I continue taking the tablet?
A:You should continue same dose for the time being. Keep getting your TSH and FT4 every 8-12 weeks as the dose requirement will increase as pregnancy progresses. Usually there is an increase of 25% in the dose.
