Q: I am feeding my 6 months old daughter with double tone milk, should i add sugar in it. And while serving soups should i add salt to it. Are they harmful for babies or is it a requirement. Hoping for early reply.

A:Please do not give double toned milk to your 6 months old baby. You can continue to give breast feeds and add supplemental semisolids foods in her diet. If at all you want to give other milk, use full cream milk, boil it and take off the cream and give it without diluting this.Regarding adding salts to soups, it is preferred to delay introduction of salt as late as possible during infancy. Larger intake of salt during this age may be associated with adulthood diseases like high BP or other cardiac ailments. Even though this may not be definite but it best to minimize salt intake during 1st year of life.
