Severe back pain

Q: My wife aged 30 years and mother of 2 children (both normal delivery) suffers from severe back pain, especially in the early morning when she wakes up. She is also not able to sit on the flooor and when sits and tries to stand up she has much pain. Wearing belt has also not solved/reduced the problem. Kindly advise.
A:The description that you have provided is inadequate to make a definite opinion. You have mentioned her age to be 30 years and the fact that you have two children. However, you have not given the age of your children and the last pregnancy nor have you mentioned whether the pain started during pregnancy. Is there any radiation of pain to the legs? Does she have any numbness in her legs? Does she have any other complaints? Have any investigations been done or any X-rays available? Wearing a belt is not a solution unless the correct diagnosis is made. She must be examined carefully by an orthopaedic surgeon before any advice can be given.
