Knuckle calcification

Q: During an investigation of the cardiovascular system, the report stated that there was some knuckle calcification in one of the veins; what is knuckle calcification, and is it harmful to the function of the heart/for blood supply to the heart.

A:Calcification of the aortic knuckle is a frequently observed finding on X Ray chest at your age. It has no serious implications. Relax since you are very conscious of your health, it is advisable to get your lipid profile done (a blood test done on a fasting state) and keep cholesterol very low. In addition keep your BP less than 140/85 mms Hg.
