Kidney stones - medication

Q: I have a very small kidney stone. My doctor had advised me to take 4 cystone tablets daily. How long should I continue?

A:You need to undergo intravenous pyelography if it has not been done earlier. Your brother also has a stone therefore, metabolic work-up should be done and also any familiar cause for predisposition for stone formation should be looked into.Taking cystone is not going to help you anyway and we do not recommend it. However, plenty of water to the tune of 12 glasses a day is more appropriate for you.
