Is UV light therapy safe during pregnancy?

Q: My 36 years friend is suffering from vitiligo and she is 6 weeks pregnant. Her dermatologist suggested UV light therapy treatment and the doctor said it is safe during pregnancy. Is UV light therapy safe during pregnancy?

A:UV therapy is a safe therapy. Vitiligo is a harmless disorder as it does not adversely affect any organ of the body, except that it causes mental agony. What is the dire urgency to treat it? One can always wait till the pregnancy is successfully over.
