Is there an alternative to KY Jelly?

Q: I am searching for a vaginal lubricant. When we make love sometimes the condom gets dry. KY Jelly is not available where we live. Is glycerine ok as I don’t want to use oil based lubricants . Can you please suggest a brand of water based vaginal lubricant for my wife?

A:Unfortunately except for KY Jelly there is no other quality brand for vaginal lubrication. Any product must be free from infectious micro-organisms. Generally no lubrication is required during sexual intercourse since there are secretory glands in the vaginal tract that make it very moist after adequate stimulation during foreplay. Dryness of vagina occurs in post-menopausal women due to hormonal deficiency.
