Is there a home remedy to treat cold and cough?

Q: My 5.5 years old son is getting frequent colds even after giving a 6 months course of Immunex and Montair 5 mg. Please suggest a home remedy to over come this problem?

A:Certainly giving him steam and decongestant oils for inhalation will help. Most coughs and colds are viral in nature and children build up immunity after exposure to these viruses. These coughs and colds do not need antibiotics. You could try remedies like ginger, tulsi, honey and black pepper if you wish.
