Is the painful mass near my testes a repeat varicocoele?

Q: I am 25 years old white male. I just had a bilateral varicocelectomy via conventional inguinal technique 11 days back. Now, I have noticed a small painful mass on the right testes and feel it is varicocoele. Is the mass the remains of the right varicocoele?

A:It may be what is called hematoma/seroma. If it is away from the line of cut of operation, it can be hernia also but much unlikely. Varicocoeles do have about 10 % recurrence rate but it is unlikely. Consult your surgeon. It is too early for worry.
