Q: I completed 6 months of pregnancy last month. I want to know whether the fetal heartbeat is slow as compared to my heartbeat? Also, I don’t feel kicks of my baby ? I just experience as if something opened and moved speedily twice or thrice in a day especially when I lie on the bed.

A:Fetal heart beat (120 - 160 bpm) is faster than the mother’s heart beat. What you are experiencing is called quickening and in the beginning they represent fetal movements. Later on you become more aware of the fetal movements.
