Is semen composed of fructose and can it be swallowed?

Q: I read in a reputed magazine that semen is fructose. Will you please let me know if it has any adverse effects if swallowed by the partner while indulging in sex? Also, do let me know that if it is fructose, then why does it taste salty?

A:Semen is not fructose but it contains small quantity of it, which are not enough to make it sweet. The general pH is alkaline so it tastes like that. There is no side effect if it is swallowed.
