Q: I am a 26 years old female whose rubella IgG test came negative. My doctor advised me to take a vaccine but the doctor told me that the vaccine is generally taken before planning for a baby. And if anyone takes it then one must not get pregnant for three months after taking the vaccine. Which time is best to take the vaccine before or after pregnancy? Is it safe to take rubella vaccination after getting pregnant?

A:Rubella vaccination must be taken before achieving pregnancy. Do not take it if you are already pregnant. If you are planning pregnancy I suggest you take the vaccination, wait for 3-4 months and use a good contraceptive before trying to conceive.
