Is it safe to conceive while receiving the rabies vaccine?

Dr DDK Rolston

Q: I am 32 years old, married and want a second child. Two days ago a pet dog whose vaccination was not done for the last one year bit me. I have taken my first shot of the Rabipur anti-rabies vaccine and some are due. I wanted to know if I should first wait to finish all the shots of the vaccine and try to conceive or is it fine while on the vaccination?

A:I am unaware that any individual taking the rabies vaccine will result in the transmission of disease or cause a congenital abnormality in a child conceived while you are receiving the vaccine. Therefore no restriction on sexual activity is placed while you are receiving the rabies vaccine.
