Q: We have taken our 2.4-year-old boy for all polio vaccination programmes till now. I want to know that earlier polio drops were given only once in a year. But now, the polio vaccine is being given almost every month to a child under five years. Should my child be given polio drops every month?

A:As per the National pulse polio programme, it is advised that all children under five years of age should be given polio drops on these days; this is safe. These drops during pulse polio days should be given in addition to the usual pulse polio dose of the child.
