Q: I am 10 weeks pregnant and have lost 2kg in the last 1 month. This was due to my repeated UTI problem and pregnancy associated nausea. Is this normal? What should I do to improve my health and weight?
A:It is not unusual to lose some weight with hyperemesis, and UTI (which are unfortunately common in pregnancy). I would suggest prenatal vitamins every-day and keep taking a balanced diet; continue to follow with your doctor who can monitor the baby's growth. Balanced diet involves eating proteins, carbohydrates and vegetables. Avoid fried foods since they can cause nausea.
