Is it necessary to give water with weaning?

Q: My daughter is 4 months old and I have starting weaning along with breast feed. Is it necessary to give water separately and if yes then how much?
A:Once weaning is started, (must have been with rice cereal) it is nice to give water separately. It should be in the from of small sips given with a spoon.
