Is it fungal infection or eczema on the hand?

Q: I feel I am having fungal infection on the outer side of my left hand. Intially I used BETNOVATE-N and it went away but due prolonged exposure to Delhi pollution and my negligence it appeared again. Thinking it to be fungal, I used TINADERM. The dryness disappeared but the mark is still there (when seen closely) and some black pigmentation. Should I use BETNOVATE-N again or SEBIFIN (product from Ranbaxy)? Also, which is the best possible remedy?
A:Since your disorder improved with Betnovate and not with Tinaderm, you probably have an eczema. Your Dermatologist should be able to differentiate between the two conditions. Preventive measures will depend upon the exact diagnosis. Dryness will help to prevent fungal infection, however it will aggravate xerotic eczema.
