Q: My son is 57 days old. He is suffering from naval hernia. This happened after he was given an injection of Vitamin K for the bleeding in his naval region. He also suffers from constipation inspite of being on mothers milk completely. Please suggest what I should do? Is it safe to go for polio vaccination in the form of injection?
A:Yes polio injection is safe. Give him honey for constipation and start lactulose syrup if there is no improvement in his condition. Usually for umbilical hernia one waits for 1-1.5 years of age. Please consult a good pediatrician / preference pediatric gastroenterologist.
