I am very sensitive to smells, is it a cause for concern?

Dr DDK Rolston

Q: I am extremely sensitive to smells. We no longer cook food, which has a strong smell. We only boil smell-less foods. Normally, we cook or boil outside the house. There is no way to vacuum out the smell. No odour is allowed inside the house, including air freshener and perfume. Is this a serious health issue? Should I be concerned?

A:For some reason you have developed a heightened sense of smell. If you do not have any headache, visual problems, difficulty in walking or weakness then this symptom should not be considered and no treatment is necessary.
