Q: What is squint? Can it be cured by using spectacles? We have recently noticed that my four year old child looks slightly in one direction sometimes? Is it due to poor vision?
A:Squint is an abnormal alignment and coordination between the two eyes. There are various types of squint, of which only some can be cured by the constant use of spectacles. The patient requires a vision assessment, cycloplegic refraction and an evaluation by a squint specialist to ascertain whether the patient has a squint or not, and what is the best treatment for it.
