How to manage itching on the body and frequent bowel movement?

Q: I suffer from body itching for the last 6 years. I am also suffering from bile calculi (no pain ), frequent stools and body aches. The liver profile is normal but my doctor suspects that itching could be because of bile acids. What tests are available to detecti this and what is the treatment for this problem?

A:If the liver tests are normal, it is unlikely that the itching is because of liver disease. I suggest you should see a skin specialist (dermatologist). There are tests to check blood bile salt levels but these are not usuallyperformed because they do not provide much information.You should see a gastroenterologist for the frequent bowel movements.
