Q: My daughter is 13 years old. She forgets the tasks (simple or complex)entrusted to her. She is not very attentive while listening. I tried telling her very calmly on many occasions but she is repeating the mistakes again and again. Please suggest if there is any method to change her behaviour?

A:Your daughter is passing through adolescence, where she needs to be treated with much patience and in a different way from how she was treated as a child. She is moving towards independent behaviour and you must not use too many dos and don'ts. Try to arrive at mutual decisions through discussion. Encourage desirable behaviours. Show good examples by showing respect for her and others yourself. Read some literature and articles about adolescence for guidance.
