How to handle a child who resists studying certain subjects?

Q: My younger sister has her board exams this year, she is not interested in maths and physics but as they are compulsory subjects she has to study them, but whenever we tell her to study any of the above subjects she picks up some other subject instead of the above, what shall we do?

A:Instead of simply telling her to study those subjects, you are not helping her in any way, but maybe increasing her resistance. Try suggesting some tuition teacher or try helping yourself. Help her identify the major blocks and then work within a time frame to overcome them. Help her make a schedule for studying where the disliked subjects are interspersed with the ones she likes.
