How to control Meniere's disease during pregnancy?

Q: I am 30 years old and have suffered from Meniere's disease for the last 18 months. Each occurrence is usually preceded by severe lack of sleep. I have been treating occurrences of the disease with Serc, prescribed by my doctor and Gravol, to help me sleep. However, as I am trying to get pregnant, I am keen to find an alternative treatment for my condition. My relatives in Asia, who had suffered from the condition were prescribed a vitamin B complex supplement called Neurobion (manufactured by Merck), and have had great success. I haven't been able to obtain this locally, but I do know that each tablet contains: Vitamin B1 – 100 mg, B6 – 200 mg and B12 -200 microgm. Only 1 tablet is to be taken per day. Are these vitamins safe during pregnancy? Can you suggest other vitamin supplements/brands that would help with Meniere’s disease during pregnancy? In place of Gravol, I was hoping to take Sleepytime Tea which contains: Chamomile flowers, spearmint leaves, lemon grass, tilia flowers, blackberry leaves, orange blossoms, hawthorn berries and rosebuds. Are these herbs safe to consume while pregnant? I would appreciate any help you could provide with regards to my concerns. Thank you.
A:You should avoid all anti-depressants and anti-anxiety medications during pregnancy. These drugs, as it is, have not been found to control or cure vertigo or the like of symptoms that you have. You can safely take any normal B-Complex preparation. Avoid Sudden head movements. Reduce salt in diet. Avoid neck exercises. Get up slowly from the bed. I am not very sure about the medicinal value of the herbs that you mentioned, so kindly consult an appropriate specialist. Just don't think too much about the problem. And yes, please do take your regular Iron and Folic acid tablets.
