How successful is the new HIV vaccine trial?

Q: Is the new HIV/AIDS vaccine tested in Pune by NACO, meant for people who are suffering from AIDS or for those who have not contracted AIDS but can use it for prevention?

A:The trial recently announced is just the beginning of the testing process in humans. In this stage (phase 1) the candidate vaccine is tried in only a few persons for safety. Later trials will determine whether it will be effective. As planned this vaccine will be for preventing infection.
