Q: A scan detected presence of mild polycystic ovaries and due to this my weight has increased inspite of taking a healthy diet and exercising. My doctor has suggested me to reduce weight. I feel pain in my right leg below the knee. It just started recently. My mom says it is hereditary as she feels all of us in our family had it. Please suggest me exercises and diet?
A:The basic formula to weight loss is 'less in and more out' - in part is diet, and out is exercise and physical activity. Please take a diet with fewer calories (1000-1200 Cals) mostly from proteins, fruit and vegetables. Minimal to no fried foods. Control of portions (quantity of food one eats) should be adequate. Do take a multivitamin a day. At least 45-60 minutes of exercise (where you are sweating), at least 6 days a week, will help you lose weight also.
