Q: How many cigarettes can a person smoke safely? I am having six per day. Should I reduce, please explain?

A:It is true that most of the epidemiological associations between tobacco smoking and adverse health effects have been noted amongst smokers who smoke more than 5 cigarettes a day for several years. WHO defines a smoker as one who has smoked more than 200 cigarettes in a lifetime! Few smokers are able to restrict to less than 5 cigarettes a day and herein lies the danger. The advice is to quit completely.
