Q: How much time does semen take to change form after ejaculation? Is there any problem if semen changes from gel to liquid within 1-2 or 2-3 minutes?
A:It normally takes less than 20 minutes for the semen sample to change from gel to liquid, though some take upto 60 minutes as normal. It is called "liquifaction time". In the process the proteins in the semen sample change in character, changing the physical state of the semen. Any smaller time period is normal. An abnormally long liquefaction time may indicate an infection.
