How is congenital synostosis treated?

Dr Surya Bhan
Consultant Orthopaedics,
Primus Hospital, New Delhi

Q: I am diagnosed as having congenital synostosis of both upper limbs. Is there a remedy for this? I do not have any problem but my limb movement is restricted.

A:The remedy for synostosis is a surgery whereby the bones are reoriented in a functional position in case they are fused in a very awkward position. However no surgery is recommended if you can carry out your day to day activities without much problem.
