Q: I am plasma donor and I donate plasma twice a week. Can you advise if there is any problem involved with this, since I have been donating for the past 11 months?

A:As per the drugs and cosmetics liscensing rules for blood banks in India, a person can donate 500 mL of plasma once every 2 weeks or not more than 1000 mL per month. He must get a plasma protein estimation after the first apheresis/ donation and that should be a reference for subsequent estimations and as a guide for frequency of plasma donations.
