Q: How do anticholinergics work for reduced ejection fraction of gallbladder? I have 25% ejection fraction. Do I need to take anticholinergics to increase ejection fraction? Are there any other options available?
A:Bladder relaxant medication e.g., anticholinergics, smooth-muscle relaxants, calcium channel blocker can be used. These agents inhibit the binding of acetylcholine to the cholinergic receptor, thereby suppressing involuntary bladder contraction of any cause. In addition, they increase the volume of the first involuntary bladder contraction, decrease the amplitude of the involuntary bladder contraction, and may increase bladder capacity.
