Q: I am a 28 years old female into my seventh month of pregnancy. Once I vomited at night. The very next morning, my throat started paining badly. Due to that, I was unable to take any food or liquid. What should I do?

A:Please get a scan done and urine ketones, liver function tests and urea and electrolytes, if you are dehydrated too. The causes could be a twin pregnancy, high blood pressure, placental problems, an Rh-negative pregnancy or a big baby - need to get it checked out. Also medication like metoclopramide to control the vomiting will be needed as well as fluid replacement once the vomiting stops. If there is less urine, dry tongue, and poor skin with fast pulse and foul breath you will need to be admitted and IV fluids given to correct dehydration and more complications due to that.
