How can vitiligo be treated?

Dr Kamlendar Singh

Q: I am a 49 years old housewife observing white spots on my skin. How can white spots on my skin be treated? What food should I eat? My doctor has recommended Psoralen or Trisoralen.

A:Some cases of vitiligo spread rapidly and cover a large area, while some spread very slowly and cover only a limited area. Most cases stop spreading on their own, after a variable period of time. Lead a normal life, like any other normal individual. You can eat anything you like. However, avoid eating too much of foods rich in vitamin-C. However, this does not mean that you will not eat them at all. You can have as much curd as you like, as this does not contain vitamin-C. "Drinking milk after eating fish leads to white patches" is a myth. There is no scientific truth in it.
