How can the shape of my son's flat head be corrected?

Q: The head of my 4-month-old son is flat on one side. I try to put him on the other side, but it hasn't helped so far. Will his head go back in shape? Will his head remain flat like this? Please advise.

A:At 4 months age the head is easily moulded. By frequently changing the position of the head the shape will revert to normal. The baby should be placed in different positions for a period of time. The change in head shape is not immediate, it takes as long as 6 months to a year.
