Q: I am a 24 years old man who had suffered with prostatitis 2 years back. However, I recovered fully from the disease within a month. Now I am in good health. Before this disease whenever I used to ejaculate my semen used to be thick and yellowish, but since two years I have been noticing that my semen is very diluted and becomes watery within 5 minutes. How can I restore my semen quality? Please advise.

A:Prostatitis means inflammation of the prostate gland. The inflammation may be bacteria or non-bacterial. Prostate gland contributes about 70 to 80% of the semen volume. You may have noticed a change in consistency of discharged semen as inflamed gland's secretion may change in character. Semen is a gel when ejaculated and liquefies usually in less than 20 minutes to release sperms. A liquefaction time less than that is not worrisome. You do not have to worry about your semen's consistency or restoring it to previous character unless you suffer from infertility.
