How can I get rid of the scar after mole removal?

Q: I have just got a mole removed from my face by cauterisation. The scab has fallen off and the wound seems to have healed pretty well. I am worried about the scar, though my doctor thinks that the skin would blend with the surrounding skin within 6 months. Is there any cream that I can apply to get rid of the scar?

A:I strongly feel that you should go with what your doctor says and feel confident that your scar will soon disappear. However, may I recommend the application of Retinoic Acid Cream (0.05%) only by night. This will hasten softening of the scar and its easy disappearance.
