Q: I have psoriasis for the past 3 years. Last year I took the UV light box treatment. I have observed that no new scale is forming on my body other than scalp. After taking the light box treatment all scale affected areas became dark and look ugly. I have one small spot on my forehead which looks very ugly. How can I bring these black spots to normal skin colour?

A:Normally the aim of the treatment in psoriasis is to bring the disease under control and induce remission. Nobody really bothers to clear the post-psoriasis pigmentation as it fades away on its own. To accelerate the resolution of this pigmentation, you may try, in consultation with your dermatologist, hydroquinone or kojic acid preparation.
